Los Angeles Fire Aftermath.
I grew up in Los Angeles. As a young pilot I began photographing Los Angeles from the air in the 1960’s. For the past ten years I have been photographing LA from a helicopter regularly. Many of the photos were published in my book LA NY, Thames and Hudson, 2017. The first week in February, I photographed LA from a helicopter, and flew over the site of the Altadena, Palisades, and Malibu fire aftermaths. It is hard to imagine the loss and pain visited upon the people who lost their homes and businesses and family members. The large scale of the disasters as well as personal loss at the scale of the individual can be seen in these photographs. Hopefully these photographs will be a reminder of what climate change can bring, and how important is that we address these issues.
