American Myth (2025–)
American Myth is a cinematic meditation on the American West and the enduring mythology of the cowgirl.
The series drifts through forgotten highways, desert diners, motel rooms, rodeos, and twilight landscapes inhabited by women who move between memory and legend. Drawing from roadside Americana, classic cinema, pulp fiction, and the iconography of the open road, Formento & Formento construct a world where fact and fiction become inseparable.
These women are not relics of the past. They are the last romantics standing at the edge of a vanishing frontier.
Suspended somewhere between dream and documentary, the photographs explore freedom and longing, beauty and danger, resilience and reinvention. Bathed in cinematic light and rich atmosphere, each image becomes part of a larger American folklore—one that is continually being rewritten.
