Bird portraits
Portraits of Birds is a series of colour photographs of curious birds encountered in various zoos. I started this project in 2019 at the Bird Garden in a village near my home, and then I was lucky enough to meet other birds in other parks.
Unlike wildlife photography, I’m not trying to document the lives of birds, I’m simply trying to highlight the finesse of their plumage and the variety of their colours. What interests me in this photographic exercise is recognising in the eyes and physiognomy of the bird a person close to me, a friend or a personality, or even a human trait.
