Austrian photographer Wolfgang Gangl is a three-time FEP European Champion in Fine Art, has once again been awarded the title FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year, receiving the highest overall distinction at the FEP Awards 2026 for the second consecutive year.
The award was presented during the official FEP Awards ceremony on 25 April 2026 in Reykjavík, Iceland.
With this renewed overall victory, Gangl continues an exceptional run of success on the European stage. He is a three-time FEP European Champion in the Fine Art category and now a two-time Overall Winner of the FEP Awards. After receiving the title FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year in 2025, he has once again been honoured with this highest overall distinction in 2026.
The Federation of European Professional Photographers commented on the result with visible enthusiasm:
“Oops, he did it again! The Austrian dominance continues at the FEP Awards 2026. Wolfgang Gangl is the European Professional Photographer of the Year once again.”
The Overall Winner is selected from among the Golden Camera winners of the individual categories. The overall title therefore marks the conclusion of a multi-stage jury process in which an international panel recognizes the strongest work in the competition.
Johan Brouwers, Chairman of the FEP Awards, also highlighted Gangl’s renewed success:
“For the Overall Winner, the victory went — by a clear margin and for the second consecutive year — to Wolfgang Gangl from Austria. His distinctive personal style continues to captivate the jury. A truly worthy winner.”
The renewed distinction confirms Gangl’s photographic practice in an exceptional way at European level. His work stands for a distinctive visual signature, precise photographic language and an artistic continuity that is rare in this form. His repeated success in the Fine Art category, together with two consecutive overall victories, underlines the sustained resonance of his work within European professional photography.
The FEP Awards continue to attract strong international interest. In 2026, according to the FEP, professional photographers from across Europe once again submitted well over 3,000 images. This high level of participation underlines the importance of the competition as a major European platform for professional photography.
Wolfgang Gangl commented on the renewed award:
“This renewed recognition means a great deal to me. I am deeply touched and, honestly, still speechless. To receive this title again after 2025 feels completely unreal.”
The award comes at a particularly dynamic moment in Gangl’s career, with upcoming art fair presentations in Vienna and Berlin, as well as a major institutional solo exhibition at the Steiermarkhof in Graz, Austria.
