Jasmina Cibic and Hamburg’s Deichtorhallen present a limited edition for the Hamburg Photography Triennial 2026.
For the second time, WhiteWall is partnering with Hamburg’s Deichtorhallen as a production partner for the Photography Triennial, which will take place in Hamburg starting this June. The exhibition center and the photo lab are continuing their collaboration by jointly launching a limited edition, bringing contemporary art and photographic excellence into private spaces.
A partnership rooted in history
Since its inception in 1999, the Hamburg Photography Triennial has become one of the leading international platforms for photography as a socially relevant art form. Initiated by photographer and collector F.C. Gundlach, the festival brings together the city’s major cultural institutions every three years—as well as, since the last edition, independent artists—around a shared curatorial theme. For the past six years, WhiteWall has been part of this network as a production partner of the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg.
The 9th Hamburg Photography Triennial (June 5 to September 22, 2026) revolves around the theme “Alliance, Infinity, Love – in the Face of the Other,” developed by artistic director Mark Sealy. The program explores the creative—and simultaneously critical—potential of alliance, infinity, and love, as well as responsibility toward the Other, within the framework of an international discourse on photography as a social and transformative force.
Alliance in Practice
As part of this collaboration, WhiteWall regularly produces a significant number of works for exhibitions held in the Deichtorhallen spaces in Hamburg, including the Halle für aktuelle Kunst, the Falckenberg Collection, and PHOXXI. In addition, a limited edition was created for the Triennale, allowing festival visitors to purchase an exhibited work.
With her photo series “The Gallery of Non-Aligned” (2023), artist and filmmaker Jasmina Cibic draws inspiration from a unique archive: she presents sculptures from the Non-Aligned States Collection—the only official collection showcasing artworks donated by government representatives and artists from the countries of the Non-Aligned Movement. As an expression of transnational solidarity and a vision of a counter-hegemonic and modernizing form of globalization, the movement—and consequently Cibic’s photographic series—perfectly aligns with the guiding concept of the “Alliance” of the 9th Hamburg Photography Triennale.
Cibic’s series exclusively features sculptures of female forms, which can be interpreted as metaphors for emerging mother nations. Photographed against vividly colored backgrounds, the torsos, busts, and heads evoke flags and national iconography while simultaneously bearing the marks of darkness, decay, and corrosion caused by moth infestation. Referencing the tradition of historical vanitas painting, the works serve as a reminder of what is lost when the past possibilities of an alternative world order are forgotten.
Dirk Luckow, Artistic Director of the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg:
“We are delighted to count WhiteWall among our valued partners for the 9th Hamburg Photography Triennial. We are particularly pleased that this extraordinary work by Jasmina Cibic can now be offered to photography and art enthusiasts in the form of a high-quality edition—produced with the precision and material refinement it deserves, thanks to WhiteWall.” »
The Edition: Jasmina Cibic × Deichtorhallen Hamburg
Jasmina Cibic will participate in the Triennale as an exhibiting artist in 2026 – a connection that makes the collaboration with WhiteWall particularly relevant. The photo lab produces the artist’s works on high-end media, allowing their visual and material qualities to be fully appreciated.
The motif for the edition “The Gallery of the Non-Aligned (Author unknown – Head of a Woman, a gift from the Ambassador of Nigeria, J.D.O. Sakoya)” is available in two exclusive versions, each measuring 34 x 42.5 cm:
The first version is a high-quality Fine Art pigment print mounted under matte acrylic glass, giving the image a striking sense of depth. The work is framed in a walnut ArtBox frame. The natural wood grain creates an elegant contrast with the contemporary look of the acrylic glass, combining museum-quality craftsmanship with modern design.
The edition is also available as an unframed Fine Art Print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper.
