Cinema & Dance – Art in movement

A hybrid discipline located in particular at the crossroads of choreography and cinematography. This is an exchange rendering cinematic choreography and choreographic cinematography.

First of all, an obvious thing: dance and cinema have a profound point in common. Both are arts of movement. How a dancer crosses a stage, how an actress crosses a shot, are a way of saying how they inhabit the world: with speed or slowness, with joy or sadness, with others or without them. The encounter between dance and cinema was therefore inevitable.

Of the beauty of the dancing body

The choreographic and cinematographic compositions provide in profusion what satisfies the eye: the Beauty of the body. However, we will have understood that Beauty, the beautiful body of the dancer, of the dancer depends on a codification which itself stems from a discourse wishing to establish the perfect body. The rapture, in the religious sense of the term (transport to heaven) felt at the spectacle of the dance, is based on these striking cinematographic images, admirably intertwined and centered on the body. We can speak in this case of flashes. Beauty hinges on the ostentation of the camera, which draws attention to itself. It is maintained by the adhesion between the movements of the camera and the movements of the dancing body, which finds its limit point in the speed of execution.

Dance and cinema, two arts made to meet: the principle of cinema, moving images and dance, moving bodies…

A film project, photographs around dance, Beauty where these passions feed each other, Cinematography, Photography and Choreography…write a story of Beauty with Light.
