Ukrânia
“This essay began when I wondered what the results of scanning three-dimensional objects would be. The most important thing was to discover how far I could explore the traditional elements of photography within a scanner, such as light, focus, and movement:
if I opened the lid and let the light hit the ceiling, if I glued the objects to the glass, or if I placed them further apart. If I made certain movements during the exposure, or if I simply closed the lid.
To find out, I scanned everything: forks, ribbons, leaves, plants, soil, fabrics, stones, dust, parts of my body, water, milk, jewelry, string, ropes, letters, lit candles.
But as soon as I started, the tanks invaded Ukraine, and I started thinking about the images, the ground, the stones, the bound hands, the people…
And then I haven’t stopped yet. Not even the world.”
