Chez Soi: De la vie à l’œuvre

Charles-Henry Bédué brings together what constitutes the essence of his work: contemplation, creation, transmission, in order to explore the experience of encounter.

“One evening, during the Unseen photography festival in Amsterdam, an unknown photographer invited me into her home. After a day spent looking at images from all over the world, often suspended in impersonal spaces, I was struck by the force of two portraits of her grandchildren, modestly framed above a sink.”

This simple shift already contained the full intuition behind the project: an image reaches its true force not only when it is exhibited, but when it finds a place.

In this process, the work is no longer merely meant to represent the home, but to return to it, to become integrated into it, and to take full part in the life that animates it.

By inviting Charles-Henry to create a body of unique works inspired by our lives, or simply by choosing to acquire a work from his repertoire, each person takes part in the writing of a singular photographic narrative, from the initial encounter to the final installation.
