Legally speaking, we declare “absent” somebody who does not report himself for a period of at least two years.
Emotionally speaking, the time we need is so short, much shorter: a month, a day, a restriction.
Being an absence, no words would be necessary.
Absence is enough in itself.
I have used few.
Absence as lack.
Emptiness, evasion.
Of space, of time, of Being.
What is not here.
That you can replace, that you can forget, that you can breathe.
Absence, invisibility.
Feared, sought.
Absence is an empty wall,
a door left ajar,
a dark refuge,
an empty bed,
dry water.
A missed hug, a lost opportunity, a hair shirt on the back, a void that can never be filled.
