The Hulett Collection presents Birds of Mexico City by Pieter Henket.
With Birds of Mexico City, Pieter Henket turns his attention to a new generation shaping identity on their own terms. These are portraits, but not in any traditional sense. Each subject is carefully constructed through costume, gesture, and presence. Drawing from elements of Mexican heritage while pushing into something distinctly contemporary, the work moves between elegance and disruption.
Published last month by Damiani, the accompanying monograph brings the full scope of the series into focus and has already received significant international attention. What stands out most is how individual each image feels. There is a clarity to Henket’s approach that allows the complexity of his subjects to come through without overstatement. I invite you to spend some time with Pieter’s Birds of Mexico City.
