Stéphane Vereecken – A few midges on the photograph

Preview

Stéphane Vereecken does everything to not disappoint lovers of licentious images. Everything except, of course, the necessary … So that such a world remains only vestiges. But also vertigo by various types of insertions.

Such a princess creates in her hand an ecstatic quest: times go back in weightlessness to spice up the ball of the Fantômettes and hipsters. Under a cornucopia of spilling drops of mother-of-pearl pearls or frozen words; the designer stages a kind of fantasmatic ceremony in a sort of ecstasy or euphoria.

These bodies, perhaps tired of their hours spent dancing in the nightclub of Camping seem to have come to collect themselves. They came out of the animal form “lazy” crawling on the ground, to get up and stand up to the sky. Brass covered with gold leaves no longer imitates the bodies of monkeys but men.

Women do not wear mini-skirts or stiletto heels for this strange mass, but corseted and puffed dresses inspired by the 16th century style. Velvet capes set with ermine fur on their shoulders. Their ruffled hair was combed, wearing jewelry. Their necks are strapped with ruffles and ribbons.

It is in this staging that the Baroque intervenes. For camouflaged under these symbols and superimposed the coronation of a queen or a king who comes to celebrate here; but rather the coronation of a love.

The characters embrace and waltz solo until the last stroke of midnight since the magic is there, sublimated. But yet these bodies in their Sunday best have no more arms and only touch each other inadvertently.
