The second Artchives residency is aimed at all female photographers wishing to organise the cataloguing and archiving of their body of work and archives.
Throughout an artist’s career, their body of work continues to grow a little more each year. However, their artistic legacy is not limited solely to their artworks. Indeed, each piece is inextricably linked to all the elements that have shaped it and stem from it (exhibitions, publications, sales, etc.), thereby painting a detailed portrait of the artist.
Archiving this legacy is now an essential part of an artist’s work for many reasons: strategic, commercial, creative, communicative, and estate-related. This process is, above all, vital if the artist wishes their work to be valued and to endure over time.
With this in mind, and through this residency project, Artchives aims to support the future winner in implementing this process. Indeed, to build a professional database, the project must be carried out in stages, tailored to the artist’s needs whilst adhering to certain established standards.
This opportunity will enable the artist to improve their entire working process in terms of organisation and productivity, and, above all, to ensure the visibility, protection and preservation of their works.
By developing this database, the artist will imbue their works with the significance of a genuine cultural heritage. Furthermore, by simplifying the management of their works, this will allow them to focus on what matters most: creating.
The winner will be announced in September 2026.
