By the Water project began a number of years ago when I was spending part of each summer on the coast of Brittany with my family. The beach scene there spoke of another era, with picnicking French families and striped cabanas dotting the beaches. Soon I began to anxiously wait for summer each year so that I could visit new places and build on the theme of water (from France to Portugal to Israel to many local destinations ). The only goal I had was to show the many positive emotions people felt By the Water: excitement, carefreeness, peacefulness, sensualness, romance, etc. I began the project in France about 14 years ago and have continued it up to the present spending more time in recent years exploring the beaches and watering holes in the US.
