From September 3rd 2026 to September 19th 2027, to mark the Bicentenary of Photography, the LUX Network is rolling out a packed programme of events in Paris and across the country. From September 2026 and throughout 2027, a tour of France in a mobile analogue photography laboratory caravan will offer a unique, participatory and immersive artistic experience entitled LUX TOUR. The travelling caravan, which will be launched in Paris on Thursday September 3rd, will stop off at each of the network’s member festivals and fairs across France. Conceived as a symbol of the circulation of works, ideas and audiences, this exceptional initiative will connect different regions and highlight the richness of a network that works year-round to promote and showcase photography, whilst playing an essential role in providing access to culture and visual literacy.
The caravan will offer visitors a unique experience, thanks to the ‘À l’origine du Cœur’ project led by the Trigone Collective. The installation enables participants to take a photograph based on their heartbeat. Visitors are invited to enter the darkroom to take a photograph using their own heartbeat, via a process that captures cardiac activity. Once developed, the photographs are digitised and then printed to be given to the visitors. Each print is unique and represents a heartbeat at that precise moment in their lives.
For this tour across France, the LUX Network has chosen a 100 per cent electric BMW vehicle, the BMW iX3, in line with its eco-responsibility charter and its commitment to more sustainable mobility. The BMW iX3 offers more sustainable mobility with zero emissions during use; it tows the caravan and also supplies the energy needed to power it, enabling the travelling studio to operate freely as it moves from one stop to the next and meets new people. The partnership with BMW is part of this shared drive to encourage access to culture, visual literacy and support for contemporary creativity.
