Françoise Huguier was sent to India by the magazine Actuel for a report on Shiite mourning, a violent ritual where men flagellate themselves. She refused to take any graphic pictures, knowing that the magazine would publish them. Huguier is interested in traveling and meeting with people. A large retrospective of her work was held at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in 2014.
