I have a very simple test in deciding whether to collect an image or make a commitment to a photographer’s work.
Does the work move me? Does it haunt me? Am I changed by it in some way just like when you read a great novel or hear a great piece of music.
This specific image by Sebastião Salgado is a good example. When I first saw it my heart was opened.
