Following the publication of the book Monica, which quickly sold out, the publishing company éditions lamaindonne is preparing to publish Corpus noir, a body of images that forms a major thread in the work of Yves Trémorin. This body of work, shown in France and internationally, has been presented in individual series or included in group exhibitions, notably within the Noir Limite group from 1986 to 1993. It now seems important to show the rigorous connections between these series and the logical progression of their conception: from the early Nus froissés, through those of La Mère, La Chambre close, Le Corps à corps and La Mort with Noir limite, Catherine and finally the Ventres that close the whole by returning to the matrix figure of the generic mother. Each series, though highly coherent as a whole, has its own distinct formal approach, shaped by the reflections and questions that fed its creation.
The body, only the body in all its states, without preconception, without pathos, in the full physical presence it brings to the world. These images have not always been easy to receive; they have met with a great deal of incomprehension, and even censorship.
