To mark its 75th anniversary on 18 April 2026, the DGPh invites all members and friends of photography worldwide to take a photograph on that day – and together create a collective portrait of the moment.
2026 marks not only 75 years of the DGPh – the year also stands for 200 years of photography, since Nicéphore Niépce created the first permanently preserved photographic image in 1826 with “View from the Window at Le Gras”. Two anniversaries, one medium.
On 18 April 2026, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie (DGPh / German Photographic Society) celebrates its 75th anniversary. One of the oldest and most distinguished photographic societies in the German-speaking world, the DGPh has always stood as an open forum for all who regard photography as an art form, a cultural heritage, and a social medium.
Moment of Exposure – A Collective Portrait of the Day
On 18 April 2026, the DGPh calls on all members and friends of photography worldwide to take a photograph on that day – a symbolic act of connection through the medium of photography. Together, the submitted images will form a collective portrait of the day, marking 75 years of the DGPh.
Place, subject, and style are entirely open – what matters is the shared moment. Analogue or digital, deliberate or accidental: all submitted photographs will be shown in an online slideshow, becoming part of a global photographic memory of this day.
Submissions: from 18 April 2026, 00:01 CET, until 30 April 2026, 23:59 CET, at: www.wecelebratephotography.com
