Preview

The Popular Pavilion of Montpellier presents an ambitious project, from June 27th to September 23rd 2018: “A dictator in pictures. Photographs by Heinrich Hoffmann “and” views of the Ghettos. German propaganda photographs and Jewish photographers of Eastern European ghettos (October 1939-August 1944) “.

Curated by Alain Sayag , artistic direction by Gilles Mora, with the participation of the Memorial of the Shoah, this exhibition has a double goal.

Demonstrating how the figure of Hitler could be staged to impose itself to a whole people, he recalled that the photographs of the dictator, presented as archival documents in the history books, have been designed and must be apprehended as propaganda tools.
