Musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac : Prix pour la Photographie : Call for applications 2024

Preview

Both a museum, a cultural center, a place of research and teaching, the Museum of Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac highlights non-European cultures in the heart of Paris. The museum brings together a collection of 370,000 objects, a considerable graphic arts collection and a collection of more than 710,000 old and contemporary photographs. The collection of photographs covers all geographic areas represented at the museum, as well as the entire historical field of the medium, from 1842 to today.

Since its launch in 2008, the Award for la Photographie du musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac has supported contemporary photographic creation. Each year, the museum finances the creations of three winners, selected on the basis of an original project, consistent with their artistic trajectory. It also takes charge of the final production of a selection of these works which then becomes part of the museum’s collection. Focused on demanding photography practiced throughout the world, the program is not limited to documentary practice and is open to broader forms of image production.

Since 2008, this support has made it possible to reveal numerous talents and to make French public collections more open to the whole world and its current creation.

The works of the 47 winners of the Prix pour la Photographie du musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac can be viewed on the website www.quaibranly.fr.
