Documentary filmmaker Nishtha Jain devoted two documentaries to photography in India: City of Photos (2005) and Family Album (2011). In these films, she explores the relationship between Indians and photographs through their family and personal histories.
Family Album takes us into the palaces of Calcutta, whose owners share and discuss their family albums.
With City of Photos, the viewer visits the local photo studios in Ahmedabad and Calcutta.
