Every summer in early July, the city of Arles puts on her summer and festival dress carrying in her flounces  thousands of images and photography fans. Les Rencontres d’Arles is an international festival which, from a height of forty-five editions, has continued to distribute the cards of photography.

Photographers, curators, journalists, teachers, students, dealers, collectors, artists, communicators, developers, marketing specialists, critics, historians, bloggers, directors, animators but also amateurs, tourists or just curious are overflowing the activity of the city.

While some seek the exhibitions of “downtown”, others come from the Blue Museum “Musée de l’Arles Antique” , head to the Van Gogh Foundation while streams of viewers flow into the former SNCF warehouses. In many places are popping previews, signatures, and conferences.

At the Espace Van Gogh, Arles’ library, Maria-Letizia Piantoni captured each of the festival birds in its box. Invited by Leica, she built this box, and she had fun. She left them free in the box. They played the game and took the pose: from the amateur to the editor, the photographer or the director of the institution.
