Meindert Hobbema: The Last rays of sunshine

With the portfolio entitled Meindert Hobbema: The Last rays of sunshine I continue my artistic research on Pictorialism and Citationism, focusing on several painters from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. This work is part of an ongoing project that has already seen the creation of portfolios dedicated to figures such as John Constable, William Turner, Edward Dodwell and Gaspar Van Wittel.
After exploring the work of these masters, I now turn my attention to another prominent figure in European painting: the Dutch landscape painter Meindert Hobbema.
Hobbema was a pupil of Jacob van Ruisdael, considered the most important landscape painter of the Golden Age of Dutch painting. This formative connection is reflected in Hobbema’s artistic approach, as he developed a personal style while retaining the strong influence of his master.
Hobbema’s paintings focus mainly on parks and wooded landscapes. His works reveal a careful study of the effects of light: the sun’s rays filtering through the trees create unusual but fascinating atmospheres.
This portfolio is a free artistic interpretation dedicated to this artist.
