Bruno Réquillart : Pavia meu Amor / Pavia, my love

Preview

Pavia is the location of Bruno Réquillart‘s first exhibition in Portugal, 47 large-format panoramic outdoor photographs, taken between 2000 & 2021, hung on walls, chimneys and public buildings.

Pavia is the place, the village, in Portugal, the geography where Bruno Réquillart has been staying since the end of the 90s.

Pavia is first and foremost the village of his partner Inès Barahona, of the origins of his partner, of the house inherited from her grandparents.

For a month or two each summer, Bruno refurbishes the house.

Illness took away Inès in 2020, and the photographer decided to leave Paris and to settle there permanently.

The house of Pavia is proud, red, welcoming. A generous lemon tree reigns in the center of the courtyard and offers its fruit every day of the year, the protective library and the adjoining workshops allow work to be done easily, Pavia is the ideal refuge. The region is overwhelmed by the heat, the fields of cork oaks and the earth offer saturated colors, those of the Alentejo.
