Armelle Bouret, Finalist

Preview

Before entering the École de l’Image des Gobelins, Armelle Bouret earned an advanced degree in the history of photography, specializing in Janine Niepce and the status of women in the 1960s. After graduating, she moved to Mumbai and worked as a film set photographer, shooting portraits of Bollywood stars for the media. Back in France, she assisted  portrait and fashion photographers Hervé Haddad, Toni Thorimbert and Patrick Swirc, among others. Then she worked with hair stylists, makeup artists and designers to develop her own photographic world.
With a deep interest in the relationship between women and nature, she decided to make the theme of animality central to her work.
Her photographs have appeared in Fast Forward Fashion: The Curated Collection (2011), Libération, Télérama and Faces.
She worked with the French singer Camille on her last album, Ilo Veyou, showing what is hidden behind what we commonly call the feminine sensibility.
