The most unusual email of the year so far! It is from Nicolas Baudouin.
As part of my research into the emergence of a possible post-photography, I spent several years exploring the Google Street View platform, which allowed me, through screenshots, to take photos without a camera. I thus traveled extensively from the comfort of my home, but above all, I documented these journeys by producing a significant number of images.
Among my destinations as a sedentary traveler, Paris quickly became the obvious choice for me., as I live there, and I therefore wanted to focus more specifically on its inhabitants by creating a large series of street portraits that I simply titled Parisians. These images, captured by Google in the early 2000s, are characterized by their very low resolution, which, combined with the blurred faces, gives them a particular quality reminiscent of surveillance camera footage.
