« We will build the wall » was a campaign pledge from President Trump, and to this day, every week—every day—the United States hears a thunderous announcement or a threatening message from the White House about the migratory politic of the country. But the wall between the United States and Mexico has been real since the Clinton presidency: A metallic fence cleaves much of the frontier between both countries. This wall is a reality for a lot of Americans and Mexicans citizens.
In Summer 2017, I followed the border between the United States and Mexico, from Pacific to Atlantic. I traveled by bus for 2100 miles. On both the U.S. and Mexico sides, I took pictures of ‘’The Wall,” my project main protagonist. With this portfolio, I show the life around this construction—the familiar and the odd one out—and the consequences on the lives of the persons living around it. “The Wall” tell us stories about this violent dramatic frontier, about this demarcation line, one that is at the same time real and illusory.
