Sydney 2013 –Darren Jew

Preview

Four times winner of the Australian Science, Environment and Nature Photographer of the Year Award (Canon/AIPP), Darren Jew is one of Australia’s most respected environmental and underwater photographers. His exhibition Liquid Light explores the interaction between life, light and water in the undersea world capturing the diversity of the marine life from the crystal clear tropical waters of the Pacific to the depths of the icy Southern Ocean.

Jew hopes his photography will help to spread a message for conservation, a subject that is close to his heart. “I want to communicate to people who don’t know about the ocean. I want them to see how amazing it is. I know that’s a broad brush statement, but for some people the ocean is a scary place. I’d like to think that they can look at my pictures and even if they are not ocean fan, they can be intrigue, and interested and marvel at some of the amazing things that live there,” he said.

Liquid Light features both colour and black and white photography, capturing the majesty of our oceans’ creatures.
