The Last Rites Of A Pandemic Summertime
2020 Summertime, was a summer challenged by a pandemic with isolation, desolation and solitude but, consequently we endured and made it the best of it all. The only two areas that, felt comfortable and safe this summer to photograph were Coney Island, Brooklyn, NYC and Fire Island Pines, NY. which, considered extremely safe and where the entire community was extremely conscious about practicing safe distance and wearing masks at all times. It never stopped people to smile, go out safely and enjoy all what the Summer has best to offer; the sun, outdoors, the ocean, and very small gatherings pretty safely. Yes, there was the summertime sadness and nostalgia of previous summers but, there is also the hope of gathering together again, to hug, to embrace, to kiss and to openly love without any fear and provide the human touch and warmth that we deserve and long for. September tries its best to have us forget summer. This one will go on the books and memories as a very challenging but, with a valuable lesson: Summertime cannot be taken ever for granted.
