This is the harsh assessment he made in 1984 of the evolution of this Parisian suburb where, for him, it all began.
At no time was he a champion of this suburb, but he always viewed it with the lucidity of a user, curious about these original landscapes and then the radical changes in these misunderstood, working-class neighborhoods, and saying, echoing Raymond Queneau in ” Courir les rues,”
“I have to go see before all this disappears”…
