Paris Photo 2011 : Les filles du calvaire (France)

Preview

Introduction
Inaugurated in 1996 in a beautiful two storied industrial building in the Marais in Paris The program of the gallery revolves around three major axis. Abstract painting, conceptual photography (photographie plasticienne) about image problems, and the notion of subject, and multidisciplinary creations with installations and Videos.

What is your point of view on the financial side of the photographic market today ?
Starting 2000 the market is fully developing which correspond to the general extension of the art market as much in the sense of geography and that of the public, but mostly it is making up for lost time in Europe where this medium was less recognized.
Photography touches a larger public than contemporary art , it is a medium more accessible in a world where visual culture is more and more important. Which seems logical.
On the other hand this market is financially more affordable, large and small collectors can more easily make an acquisition with more advantageous price and quality.
The crisis did touch the galleries but the photography market remains very viable.
