Paris, Galerie Agathe Gaillard: L’Enfer by Elizabeth Prouvost

Preview

To mark La Sétérée’s release of L’Enfer, Elizabeth Prouvost’s artist’s book devoted to Dante’s Inferno, the Galerie Agathe Gaillard is opening its doors to the photographer from October 15th to 22nd, 2014. Eighteen painting-photographs will be displayed. After taking inspiration from the works of Bataille, Rodin, Géricault and the Bible, Prouvost has turned her attention to Dante.

Prouvost’s first photo exhibition, Déligatures, was held at the Galerie Jean-Claude Riedel back in 1994, when Prouvost was still working as a director of photography for the movies. In 2008, she left the cinema to devote herself entirely to photography. Since then, her work has focused on the human body and movement, with (de)nude(d) bodies in search of a lost paradise, those of both God and the Devil.
