Montréal 2011 –Jim Verburg

Preview

Jim Verburg is another artist who poses questions about human relationships. He focuses particularly on the questions of intimacy, sexuality and what is often left unsaid in such relations. For a Relationship (2007) and Album de famille numéro un (Family Album Number 1) (2009) are short films of animated and mixed together photographs, and reveal an active childhood and the intimacy of homosexual relationships. In Un et Deux (One and Two), Verburg’s most recent work, circles (found in nature, produced by the lens, traced, imprinted, superimposed, animated) stand in for human subjects. These graphic images apply the set theory dear to the German Georg Cantor.

Jim Verburg makes his home both in Toronto and Montreal His work has been shown mainly in Canada, the United States and Switzerland.
