Photography, whilst it documents a specific time and place, is first and foremost an artistic act. This exhibition seeks to re-examine the difficult distinction between art and documentation. Depending on the era from which we view it, archives and documents can thus be revealed as works of art; conversely, works of art enable us to better understand the writing of history.
