In the Seventies I cancelled my exclusive contract with STERN after I married my wife Marion. Just to be able to plan my time during the year. As I accepted only jobs I was able to fulfill I got more jobs than ever. But I only worked with assignments, a guarantee or prepayment. In 1975 GEO magazine was planned and created by Rolf Gillhausen and in some years I had more than 10 stories in the magazine. I also worked as a destination scout for the German airlines Lufthansa/Condor/LTU. In 1973 I discovered the Maldives with my camera. The story was first published in STERN and than in about 100 other publications. I also produced the first catalogue pictures on Seychelles, Mauritius, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Mexico.
To be more independent I started printing my own books and selling them also in the destinations like Maldives and later Seychelles and Dominican Republic. For a while I had the monopoly in these countries. Also selling the books in German and French bookshops with great success.
