Marcelo Troche – Insectypos, Wetplate Photography

Preview

Interested in symmetrical forms and the hidden beauty of insects, which at first may seem disgusting to some, Marcelo finds a creative object with great potential. Wanting to demonstrate a distinct point of view by taking a micro look at different facets, colors and shapes of the insects, he discovers a totally different world that blends perfectly with wet collodion photography, a technique he uses for this project. Working with this technique allows him to control all stages of the project and thus to include his creative vision. Marcelo appreciates the quality that the wet collodion process allows to give, in addition to the singularity and originality of each image. He also likes to mix digital and analog techniques by sometimes adding bright colors with a raster graphics editor to make the object livelier.

The process, which he associates with a therapeutic vision of photography, allows him to take the time to really linger over the work and the creative development he’s doing.

Through the multiple photographs that he produces, he denotes an importance to document the insects that are sometimes in the process of extinction or have metamorphosed over the years. Moreover, with the environmental concerns that our generation and future generations faces, the importance of collecting a memory becomes a source of inspiration for Marcelo who also wants to export his work in museums, or even create a photo album mixing art and education.
