Les Nuits Photographiques : Edoardo Pasero, Doll Flesh

Preview

We continue and present the projects selected by Les Nuits Photographiques 2015 awards, which took place on September 19th. Today  is about “Doll Flesh“, a portrait about German transexual living in Italia, directed by Edoardo Pasero, young Italian photographer.

Vittoria is a transsexual of German origins born forty-eight years ago in Brazil and now living in Milan, Italy. More than 20 years ago she went through about 300 injections of liquid silicone to shape her body into that of a woman; tragically, she suddenly discovered she was intolerant.
Once injected is almost impossible to remove the silicone from the body so the only way she had to control the intoxication was to go trough massive cortisone-based treatments.
Now after so many years  of intoxication and cortisone treatments her body is consumed. She still works as a prostitute along a highway near Milan, but she never gets undressed with her clients because she doesn’t want them to be aware of her condition.
In her spare time she custom builds Barbie dolls; she buys naked plastic bodies and then she dresses them up, transforming the old body in something completely new and unconventional. Her talent is really appreciated in the world of the “custom Barbie making”.

Edoardo Pasero

Born in Alessandria I  moved to Milan to study philosophy at the State University.
During the university years I soon found photography as the best way to develop my humanistic interests.
I now work with the international photography agency Prospekt and my work is mainly based on subjects of body, gender, identity and intimacy.
I studied photography with Lorenzo Castore, Antoine D’Agatà, Anders Petersen, Paul Kooiker .
