For this latest edition of the Salon de la Photo, a special exhibition has been organized in honor of Sabine Weiss, who turns 90 this year, with three different events as part of the European Month of Photography in Paris: a retrospective with over 100 photographs, a new video directed by Stéphanie Grosjean, and an exhibition featuring the work of nine young photographers.
Over 100 photographs from Weiss’s humanist oeuvre will be on display from November 13 to 17, 2014, at the Parc des Expositions de la Porte de Versailles. This selection presents the Swiss photographer’s most famous pictures, as well as a rare series of portraits Weiss shot of her friends, artists, painters, sculptors and writers she frequented with her husband, the painter Hugh Weiss.
For the film Mon métier de photographe, Grosjean and Weiss went through the photographer’s archives to reveal the different aspects of the profession.
Nine photographers have come together to pay tribute to Sabine Weiss. Each of them will be presenting a work inspired by one of Weiss’s photographs.
