La Filature presents an exhibition by Delphine Gatinois. Boire et marcher, a journey on horseback in search of water, from the Saint-Amarin valley to Remiremont.
Like Clara Chichin, Delphine Gatinois also develops her research over a long period of time, dedicating it to age-old balances disrupted by modernity. The artist documents the practices and narratives that tradition weaves around it through a visual practice drawing on different techniques of image production and publishing. Her new images from the series Boire et marcher stem from walks in Alsace, undertaken at the invitation of La Filature, through landscapes of flood plains, forests, and rocky outcrops, as well as so-called cosmological zones marked by the presence of subterranean forces. Water acts here as an agent of slow transformation, at once visible and invisible. It infiltrates, hollows out, alters, and redistributes forms, setting surface and subsoil in constant interaction. Earth and water transform one another, blurring the boundaries between mineral, vegetal, and fluid.
