“What makes the night within us can leave the stars within us” (Victor Hugo).
Julia Saludo’s art is drawn through a dark and mysterious universe. Like a catharsis, she transcribes her inner world through a play of transparency, layers, and the fusion of photographic elements. Photography and photomontage are thus her way of communicating her interiority and her relationship to the world. The human body, the skeleton, the plant, the animal as well as the fossil intermingle in her artistic compositions, in order to bring light into the darkness, creating an atmosphere of “chiaroscuro”. It is through a mirror game between poetic writing and graphic creations that she transcribes the themes that are dear to her: love, death and the complexity of the living. Always imbued with a particular attention to the reality that surrounds her, the seabed, the flora and the fauna sensitize her. Her openness to the outside world reminds us that her work is nothing other than a search for balance between the notion of interiority and the living that surrounds us. Merging the intimate with the existing in order to question the living is her inescapable quest. It is the passion that drives Julia Saludo, and this passion will remain the prolific beacon that lights up her night.
