They are called Batman, Spiderman, Catwoman or Zorro, and are our masked heroes of yesterday.

Intrepid and courageous, they hide their eyes and gaze to preserve their true identity.

Their names are Naïma, Gaspard, Clara, Amir and even Matthéo, and are our masked heroes today.

Docile and courageous, they hide their mouths and noses because they have been asked to.

Some are barely old enough to understand, but all have played along, and the rules are as easy to state as they are complex to follow: wear a mask at school, more than eight hours a day.

This series of portraits is not intended to argue over the merits or not of this decision, but to pay homage to a generation.

Today’s superheroes are sometimes afraid of the dark, they don’t tidy their room, they move around on scooters or jump, they keep smiling behind the mask, they deserve our applause, the superheroes of today are
