Ixelles : France Dubois, Fragile Territory

Preview

France Dubois’ exhibition Fragile Territory opens today, it is part of a cycle entitled CORPUS presented in the spring at the Chapelle de Boondael in Ixelles, and is dedicated to the body in contemporary art.

The work that the Brussels photographer France Dubois shows us questions the human being’s physical and psychological wounds, and the possibility of surviving with the least possible suffering.
There are moments of defeat and victory on the way to an equilibrium that is always ephemeral.
France Dubois offers us a view of the battered body, bruised, injured.
These accidents of life are visible in our flesh and anchored in our souls.
Trapped in a dysfunctional body and feeling that the years are passing, not the suffering. The urge to breathe, look for an air bubble. Melancholy becomes stronger, unbearable … stifled screams.
The lack of movement isolates. To survive a little more with loneliness and fear.
The obsession: to leave the body,to  dive into the unknown.
