Harry Benson’s 70s

Preview

Harry Benson will receive today the Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Center of Photography in New York. In this portfolio, you can find a selection of Harry Benson’s most iconic images shot in the 1970s. During these years, Harry Benson loved working as a freelance for LIFE Magazine before the magazine closed in late 1971. Before People Magazine began and LIFE monthly began in the late 70’s, he photographed for New York Magazine, WWD and French Vogue.  But LIFE was always the magazine Harry Benson considered his magazine. He never considered anything unimportant and took every assignment offered. Nixon’s presidency and resignation, Kissinger at the Vietnam Peace Talks, the World Chess Championship of Bobby Fischer were photographed for LIFE.

“Harry Benson—a master of his art!” – Andrew Wyeth
