In October 2019, in residence in Wilson for the Eyes festival on Mainstreet, Olivier Metzger blended into this small American town of North Carolina, in the United States and photographed the city and its inhabitants, encountered by chance during his wanderings.
As usual, in the wake of his wanderings at nightfall, he did a few flash shots in the dark city. He also wanted to photograph the youth of this small town.
It is at Barton College that he met the football team that has just been set up: “the Bulldogs”. He followed their first training sessions on the field and also met the essential cheerleaders who encouraged the players during matches.
Olivier Metzger photographs the Bulldogs but also these young women, cliché images, children getting bigger in the light, resplendent representations to the glory of America.
