About “SEEEU 2025 – European Month of Photography in Tokyo”
This photography festival, which will launch in Tokyo in October 2025, marks the first European Month of Photography in Japan. It will showcase works reflecting contemporary Europe, displayed in indoor and outdoor spaces in Tokyo for one month each year.
The festival will showcase European photographic talent in the urban landscape of Tokyo and foster new professional and creative opportunities for European and Japanese artists.
This year’s theme, “Reframing Realities,” explores the shifts in perspective that define and reshape contemporary Europe. From Europe’s dynamic communities to changing identities in the digital age, the theme explores how realities are constantly being created, erased, and reinvented. Amid conflict, migration, and climate crisis, photographers blur the line between reportage and invention. In a world of self-curation, retouching, synthetic beauty, and loss, we ask: where are the boundaries, and who is redrawing them?
Exhibitions on construction site fences, in cafes, and galleries across Tokyo! More than 250 works will be exhibited in indoor and outdoor venues across Tokyo, including on construction site fences, in cafes, and in galleries. Transforming everyday urban spaces into artistic stages, this photography festival creates new encounters between art and people. For more information, please visit the official website.
