This year, Agence France-Presse presents the work of the its photojournalists in a different light. Alongside the award-winning images, AFP has included the words of the men and women who captured them the world over, telling the story of our planet 24 hours a day.
In addition to their regular best-of lineup, AFP has added the favorites of editors and teams on the ground. There are photos that speak for themselves. Some come as a jolt, some are distressing, some fascinate and some make us laugh. They come from everywhere – from Bangladesh to Syria, from Beijing to Paris.
Sometimes the lighting or a phrase make us look at the image differently. It can underline the danger, surprise, horror, amusement or stupor in the photo… Behind each reportage there is a story, a meeting be it soft or brusque, a man or a woman on the ground.
