Gotham Visions & Second City
Gotham Visions & Second City is a photographic series of unsettling cityscapes. These dark and dream-like images are in the cinematographic tradition of American film noir and German expressionism. They are night scenes in seemingly abandoned cities. We discover streets wrapped in a foggy atmosphere, extinguished neon signs, threatening skies… Only the light emitted by a few scattered windows suggests the hope of life. Here and there, an unexpected glow surprises us, allowing an architectural detail to emerge from encrouching shadows. The compositions, deliberately unbalanced, contribute to the psychological unease that these images provoke in the viewer, who could well imagine himself as the last man on earth.
