This was my third time going to the Mermaid Parade in the Coney Island, neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City on June 22, 2019. It is arguably one of the four biggest parades in the City. In 2018, it was estimated, 830,000 people attended, a record. It permits anyone to participate in whatever costume one can create, with a mermaid or water theme.
