Bernard Descamps : natura

Preview

The new book by Bernard Descamps, entitled natura, in an homage to the first naturalist essays of antiquity, it is the fruit of patient work, of a long quest for images of nature. Not spectacular images from the end of the world, but images of the nature that is close to us and that we so often neglect.

The formal beauty of the horizon line between sea and sky, or that of a snow-capped mountain, triangle of black and white, the vertical elegance of a century-old tree or that of a flight of common cranes in the sky of Lorraine.

Four chapters, black and white photographs, images made of rocks, rough or smooth bark, water, clouds, light and wind … an approach of emptiness and fullness, balances and silence.

Book published by Editions Filigranes with the assistance of the German museums of Kaiserslauiern and Bochum

The text of the book is by Maria Spiegel, art historian and curator of the Bochum museum.
