Benoît Luisère –Archives

Preview

These images could belong to a family that has forgotten its father, is uncertain about its mother, and whose main character is curious about becoming someone else, anyone else.

Benoît Lusière (b. 1972) lives near Toulouse, France. An archivist by training, he collects anonymous family photos, taking a particular interest in their endless repetitions and their ritual aspect, how they stage an unreal event out of small, consensuel lies. Lusière’s encounter with this photographic document has had a strong influence on the way he currently thinks about self-image, identity and memory.
